Regional UIL Results & State Bound Writers!

Aric Timberlake delivered a standout performance, taking 3rd place in Editorial Writing and officially qualifying for UIL State! His ability to think critically and write persuasively under pressure was evident, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes at the next level.

This past weekend, Celeste High School proudly took 13 outstanding students to the 2025 UIL Regional Tournament held on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26. Among the many highlights were the incredible performances of Aric Timberlake and Tess Duckworth, who truly stood out in their events.

Journalism Excellence: Tess Duckworth made a big impression in her categories, placing 5th in Feature Writing and 6th in News Writing. Her high rankings earned her the title of State Alternate in both events — a major accomplishment! Her preparation and poise throughout the tournament reflected her dedication to the craft of journalism.

Academic All-Star: In addition to his journalism success, Aric also competed in Mathematics, placing 23rd out of 45 students, and was called in last minute to compete in Science, where he placed 43rd out of 54 — a great showing for a late substitute.

Other Outstanding Participants:

  • Prose/Poetry: Addy Kampwerth, Cyrus Ford, Jeny Sanchez, Marcy Johnson, Brailyn Hise – these students performed with heart and passion, representing Celeste with pride.

  • Ready Writing: Caelin Henderson impressed with her effort and creativity.

  • Journalism: Hannah Brown supported her team as a ready alternate.

  • Calculator Applications: Our team placed 7th overall — a strong finish in a tough field.

We are incredibly proud of all our competitors. Each one showed dedication, resilience, and school pride throughout the event. A special congratulations goes out to Aric Timberlake, who now advances to the UIL State competition!

Go Blue Devils and good luck at State, Aric!
