Congratulations to the following seniors for being chosen as the 2021 Celeste High School Homecoming Nominees: Kylie Braswell, Trinity Downs, Emma Zachary, Seth Buckley, Zakyrn Jackson, and Brody Pryor. Compliments to Zakyrn Jackson and Emma Zachary for being selected as the 2021 Celeste High School Homecoming King and Queen. The big announcement was made during the halftime show on Friday, September 17.
Homecoming Queen, Emma Zachary, is the daughter of Amanda Nelson and Josh & Amy Zachary. Emma has participated in drill team for 3 years. She has been on the basketball team for 1 year and the softball team for 3 years. Last year, she was awarded the 1st team all-district Designated Player for softball. Emma has participated in FFA for 1 year and track for 1 year. Emma plans to attend TWU and pursue a career in Dental Hygiene.
Homecoming King, Zakyrn Jackson, is the son of Marvin Drennon and Yamara Denson. Ky has played football for 4 years, basketball 3 years, and track and field 3 years. His junior year he placed 2nd at the state meet in the 400m dash and is making plans to return and bring the state title home this year. Ky’s future plans are to compete at the collegiate level in track.
Homecoming Queen Nominee, Kylie Braswell, is the daughter of Heidi Young & Kevin Braswell Sr. Kylie has been involved in the Drill Team for 3 years and is serving as an officer this year. She has been actively involved in Beta for 2 years and is on the honor roll. She plans to study health sciences and focus on surgical technology. She plans to attend medical school after college graduation.
Homecoming King Nominee is Seth Buckley. Seth is the son of Ray & Meredith Buckley. Seth has played football for 4 years and received 2nd team all-district outside linebacker last year. He has participated in track and field for 3 years. He ran in the regional meet twice and the state meet once. Seth has also played on the varsity basketball team for 2 years. He enjoys riding motorcycles with his brothers. Seth is interested in going to a trade school for mechanics upon graduation.
Homecoming Queen Nominee, Trinity Downs is the daughter of Greg and Candace Downs. She has been a varsity cheerleader for the last 4 years. Trinity participated in cross country for 1 year. She has been a part of the basketball and track teams for 3 years. Trinity has played on the golf team for 2 years. She has been a member of Beta Club for 4 years. Trinity plans to attend college and major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Homecoming King Nominee is Brody Pryor, who is the son of Anthony & Tara Henderson and Brad and Brittney Pryor. Brody has played on the football team for 4 years. In 2020, he was awarded Defensive MVP. He has played baseball for 3 years and last year was awarded Defensive MVP. Brody has played basketball and tennis for 3 years. He was 2nd place in district tennis and was a regional qualifier. He has participated in Beta Club for 2 years, FFA for 3 years, and FCA for 3 years. In his free time, Brody enjoys hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. Brody plans to attend UT Tyler and major in civil engineering.
