FFA AUCTION DRAWS A BIG CROWD The Celeste FFA Booster Club held its annual auction/fund-raiser on Friday, May 11, 2013.
Celeste FFA members have much to be thankful for with another huge night of heart-filled support. The night began with amazing entertainment as Celeste FFA members Abby Collida and Austin Gilliam performed a duet to the songs “Hallelujah” written by Rufus Wainwright and “I Told you So” written by Randy Travis. Austin and Abby recently won the District IV FFA Talent Show and advanced to the Area V FFA Contest where they placed 3rd overall. Next, Ms. Alexia Hathcock delighted the crowd as she fulfilled a life-long dream to perform the National Anthem on stage in front of a large audience. There were many incredible cakes entered in the student cake contest! This year’s winners in the age 8 and under division went to the following students: 1st place: Toby Minter, 2nd place: Kolton Nichols, 3rdplace: Koby Brown. The winners in the age 9 and over division went to the following: 1st place: Jaycee Brown, 2nd place: Alexa Hathcock, 3rd place: Kaylee Saye. For a second year in a row, Alexa, who has managed to overcome countless obstacles that life has placed before her, sold her beautiful horse shaped cake to Brad Pryor of Rafter P for $2,500.00! Mr. Joe Conley also made a generous donation of $100 to Alexa’s cake. The auction was a tremendous success. Thanks to the generosity of all the Celeste FFA supporters as well as individuals and businesses that donated items to the auction $18,500.00 was raised to help our local FFA students. The money raised will help purchase Hunt County Fair market projects, scholarships for graduating FFA seniors and travel assistance for FFA sponsored events such as the state convention, judging contests and agricultural mechanics and livestock shows. |
