Congratulations to the Celeste High School Class of 2016! The commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 8:00 PM in the Celeste High School Gymansium.
Valedictorian Sarah Myers
Sarah is the daughter of Mickey and Nancy Myers. She has attended Celeste schools and the First United Methodist Church of Celeste since Kindergarten. Sarah has been a part of the basketball, softball, tennis, track, and cross country teams. Sarah has been on the cheer squad for three years, and the dance team for one. Sarah was awarded Football Sweetheart this past fall, Miss CHS this spring, and the most athletic girl in Celeste High School. Sarah is currently serving as the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club, the President of the Celeste Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, and the yearbook editor. Sarah is the valedictorian of the graduating class of 2016 with a GPA of 3.982. She will be attending Oklahoma State University this fall to major in finance.
“I would like to thank my teachers and coaches, especially Mr. Moore, Mr. Dillard, Mrs. Brown, and Coach Herron for pushing me to be the best, and for keeping me sane during moments of madness. I would also like to thank my parents for teaching me how to never give up and for dealing with my incredibly busy schedule.”
Salutatorian Gary Casey
Gary is the son of Bob and Marifrances Casey. He has been a part of the Celeste community since age 3 and attended Celeste schools since age 12. Gary was a member of the Boy Scout troop in Celeste, having earned the rank of Eagle as a charter member. At school, Gary has participated in football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, and golf. Gary has participated in academic UIL for four years and will be competing at the state meet for prose interpretation later this month. Gary is an active member in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club and Beta club, and has been a part of the Future Farmers of America chapter and Spanish club in previous years. Last fall Gary was nominated for Mr. Football and elected class secretary and this spring was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” in the senior class with Hannah Lipsey. Gary is the salutatorian of the graduating class of 2016 with a GPA of 3.907. He will be attending Texas A&M University – College Station in the fall with a major in statistics.
“I would like to thank my family and friends who have supported me in high school and the teachers, coaches, and sponsors who have tried their best to help me succeed, especially Coach Lipsey, Coach Smith, and Ms. Hackler. I would also like to thank the school administration for working with me to get the classes I wanted to best prepare me for college.”
